Fav Movies

I gave birth in a hospital where Carlo Gambino’s son-in-law was chief of staff. No cameras or recording devices, even in maternity. I asked my gyn what it like to work w/them. He said that you know that they fix horse races and worse. Nothing more. At least Don Corleone never messed around on his wife and even danced in public with her.

Woodward and Bernstein helped shape my early journalism. My first SPJ award was for an interview I did with John Dean while I was editor in college. My second was for first place for our newspaper while I was Editor-in-Chief. I always wanted to find my own Watergate. I guess I did, and then some. And God bless Robert Redford.

During college I read “Gulag Archipelago ” by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and went to take the ASVAB at the Navy recruiter’s. “You can do anything but be a nuke,” he said. So I signed up for Advanced Electronics. Flew from Spokane to Orlando for boot camp. Then on to Great Lakes Naval Training Center where I completed “A” school. Had to teach myself trig and nearly washed out over servos and synchros because of this little right-left dyslexia thing. I learned early to make a “L” with my left hand otherwise who knows which way I’ll go. Then I completed KW-7 school at Ft. Gordon, GA. The Navy barracks were co-ed. My first duty station was COMOCEANSYSLANT in Norfolk, VA. I maintained a wall of crypto gear that unscrambled messages as they shot around the Atlantic from the NAVFACs to us. Well, that and Sean Connery.

I first saw “Rocky Horror” while at KW-7 school. He threw off his cape and that was it. Thank God for Ru Paul.

Now you know.

Thanks for being here,

Sandy
